Whatever Happened To The Wiliwili Seeds?

Above is a faux wiliwili and puka shell bracelet I’m selling on Etsy which I made using what is called “faux wiliwili seeds” and small puka shells. By the time I got into making jewelry the wiliwili seeds had all but disappeared. I’ve only been making jewelry for about 2 years now and the wiliwile plants were attacked in 2005. Alien wasp may doom the wiliwili

August 8, 2005

I remember taking my children to Polo Beach almost every day and I hated driving through Mokulele Hwy because of the tall trees on either side of the road made me feel so claustrophobic. Now when I think about it I feel bad because all those trees got wiped out by the wasp and now I don’t even know if we even have wiliwili seeds anymore.

Don’t get me wrong, I think the sandalwood seeds are pretty too. In fact I’m just going to hang on to a bunch in case a bug comes and wipes out all those trees! :/
