One day while my son and friend were surfing my daughter and I walked the beach and found the most beautiful shells. I picked some up along with some beach glass and made a couple of earrings for myself with some earring findings we already had on hand.
Me wearing my 1st pair of earrings I made ~
I wore the earrings to a party and everyone really liked it! So, I decided to make more and gave them as gifts to some of my friends who really liked my earrings! And that was the start of…Natural Maui Ohana
I find all of my beach sea glass around the beaches on Maui. I don’t order beach sea glass in bulk from anywhere else around the world, not from England, Puerto Rico, or anywhere else. It’s ok, the beach sea glass is nice from those places but I figure if I find my beach sea glass here on Maui, when you purchase it you’ll be taking back a piece of Maui Mana (energy) with you as well.
I don’t alter any of my glass save for drilling a hole. All pieces are in the original shape I found it in. No sanding, no carving, no manual shaping.
How we came up with the name Natural Maui Ohana
We didn’t come up with a name right away. My little girl came up with the name and I really took to it so here we are.
It’s important to me that I not only show you what I have available for purchase, it’s also important to me that you know that I’m a real person. It’s for this reason that I’ll not only post new, beautiful, and exquisite jewelry for purchase but also tidbits and stories about me and my family and our life here on Maui no ka oe!
Here are the valuable human components that make up Natural Maui :>D

This is me.
This is me having breakfast with some friends. I’m wearing the first pair of shell earrings I made from shells we found at Baldwin Beach Park on Maui. Everyone loved them!
This is me with my daughter Rel. We were celebrating my nieces birthday with lots of good music. Here I am wearing a pair of dark olive green seaglass earrings.

This is me at a meeting for our local bodyboarding club, SPONGE Maui. I am an active member and one of the founders of this club which focuses not only on our top competitors but also on the children. This is my daughter Sophia :>D
She’s very creative but she’s a full time student at the University of Hawaii at Maui taking 6 classes, most of them upper division, works part time at MarMac Ace Hardware and has a 18 month old son that she takes care of. That leaves her with little time to create but when she had more free time she was always crafting. I love her diaper cakes and her macrame jewelry! She’s patient and quiet when crafting and I can’t wait until she has time to craft with me again.
This is us in the photo above at my grandson’s 1st birthday dancing it up (that’s me in the background). We had a blast. She really used her creativity to make the invitations, party favors, Thank you gifts, and
centerpieces
This is my son Richard :>D
He is my bodyboarder. Doesn’t contribute much to crafting but we do manage to collect a lot of cool craft materials at the beach whilst he bodyboards! LOL!
And last but not least is my little girl Rel :>D
She’s very into crafts and likes to do her own thing. Lately, she’s been teaching herself how to make her own earrings and we’ve already sold a few of them. She’s into drawing and making her own cards. She always makes everyone’s cards for birthdays, Christmas, but she has to be in a mood. She used to do shows at the local public TV Station, Akaku, but hasn’t done one in over a year now. She also does a lot of announcements and deejaying on Paia Youth and Cultural Center’s radio Opio 89.5. She also has a very good eye as a photographer. She takes a lot of photos of bodyboarders and just seems to capture them at a good time when their right on the best part of the wave ride and when they’re in an action position doing tricks. We’re in the process of doing a fundraiser so we can buy a better camera for her.
That about sums up this little family from Maui. Hope to get to know a lot of other seaglass and shell lovers out there!

Aloha,
Totally last minute, but any chance of purchasing items for Mother’s Day gifts? My guess is that you probably will be taking the day off tomorrow (understandable!). Please let me know. If not, no biggie. It’s my fault for waiting until the last minute. Have a great day.
